Commentaries In The Sclera: Stuttering
Head Zone: Right Sclera: Focus on "Stress Pressure" and "Stuttering"
Person: Male, Born 18.18.72
Presenting Chief Complaints: Stuttering
Commentary: This young man is a gifted pianist. I saw him perform, a spontaneous event, nothing short of amazing. He sat at the piano and was "gone" - totally immersed in his music. He was completely involved in "being in the moment" and communicating whatever was in his heart, oblivious to everything but his music. No inhibitions: the music simply flowed out of his fingers. Then he began to sing. No stutter. This beautiful, unrehearsed, event touched everyone in the room as they were captured in the beauty of his song. Most people present had already registered him as "impaired" because of his embarrassing stutter, so with his song, he really "knocked their socks off."
As a stutterer, his problem was monumental. He would literally be unable to communicate verbally. He would even laugh at himself because of the effort and length of time it took to get even one syllable out. He carried a pen and paper at all times. Despite being a very thin person, he had the nickname of "porky" after the cartoon stutterer: Porky the Pig.
Looking at the sclera, we see that the major disturbance is at 12:45. This area is often referred to as a "stress pressure zone" (see Around The Clock section in The Art & Science of Sclerology manual). [Note: Stress pressure can also register on the outside of the right sclera's head zone. This sclera also shows a faded "congestion" line in that 11:00 zone. The reason for these two locations is that this particular area can also reflect the left sided stress due to the cross-over phenomena described on page 101 in the manual.]
As his case unfolded, there emerged the classic situation: High-achieving parents expect perfection in their son. His father was a political appointee in Washington DC with a law degree. His mother was a surgeon. His childhood was pushed, accelerated, and groomed for success. His becoming President of the United States was his parents' expectation.
The stutter developed in early childhood. He had been seen and treated for this condition throughout his life. In a family rift, he escaped from the expectations and enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin's school of political science because it was farther away and warmer than the Ivy League schools. After the first semester he outraged his parents and switched to the music department. He was cut off from their acceptance and financial support. But he admitted that he felt "alive" with the decision.
In further discussion, he also suffered from nightmares - situations where he was always inadequate to the task, unable to respond to the challenge, Often would scream out in the night. He told an amusing story of this happening in the dormitory and the resulting chaos.
It is interesting to note that the other lines in the sclera are somewhat faded and thus not primary in his case. One bold stress pattern stands out. There was some resolution to some part of the problem. Perhaps it was the decision to be his own person.
With the natural therapies of homeopathy and herbal support for the nerves and brain, great improvement was made. Within three months, the stuttering was gone for the most part, only to emerge in times of perceived stress. This stress was not perceived in performing music. It mostly occurred when called on to speak in class, or if he tried to talk to girls.
With more in-depth natural support , this condition became quite manageable and he blossomed in the year that I worked with him. Interesting to note: his body changed dramatically from skinny to well proportioned. In this year, he really "came to be his own person" and found his calling.
